Case overview

From trainer treatment to fixed braces — closing spacing and mild deep bite in 12 months.

  • Initial situation: We started with trainer treatment when the patient was 12 years old. Tooth eruption was a little slower than usual, and because of ongoing growth we decided to keep a removable appliance that would benefit both the teeth and jaw growth. The main concerns after the mixed dentition phase were spacing and a mild deep bite two years later.
  • Treatment plan: We already knew the case well — and I had previously treated the father’s orthodontics too ☺ — so switching to fixed appliances was the clear next step. Treatment was carried out with an RMO mini LP appliance on both the upper and lower arches.
  • Treatment duration: 12 months
  • Result: By the end of treatment we achieved a closed, gap-free dentition and resolved the deep bite.
  • Summary: Patient age: 14 years. Treatment type: fixed braces. Treatment time: 12 months. Review frequency: every 4 weeks. Case completion: fixed retention wire, removable retainer for night wear.
